Story

A total of 48 Badin High School students were named AP Scholars based on their excellent performance during the May 2026 battery of AP testing, including 18 students from the Class of 2027.

AP – Advanced Placement – courses cover college-level material, and students are eligible to receive college credit based on how well they do on the tests.

“It was another strong year for our Advanced Placement students,” Badin Principal Patrick Keating ’07 said. “Our students take these courses seriously and are well-aware of the opportunity for college credit. That’s certainly an added motivation to do well.”

Badin offers 12 Advanced Placement courses, 10 College Credit Plus courses, and 16 Honors courses in its four-year curriculum.

Advanced Placement tests are scored on a 1-5 scale, with 5 being the highest. Any score of 3 or above is considered “passing.” A total of 150 Badin students took 273 AP exams in May.

Thirteen Badin students were named AP Scholars with Distinction, the highest recognition. Those students must earn an average score of 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and a score of 3 or higher on five of those exams.

Eleven Badin students were named AP Scholars with Honor. Those students must earn an average score of 3.25 on all exams taken, and a score of 3 or higher on four or more exams.

Twenty-four Badin students were AP Scholars. Those students must earn an average score of 3 or higher on 3 or more exams.

“AP Scholars have to take a number of Advanced Placement courses, so the bar is set high to begin with,” Keating pointed out. “These students were willing to take a number of tough courses, and they did a great job clearing the testing hurdles.”

From the Class of 2026, 30 students earned various AP Scholar designations, including 21 who had been recognized as juniors. Of those 30, 13 earned the highest honor, AP Scholar with Distinction.
