The challenge for many students on the college search is writing the college application essay, most of which are personal essays. College admission boards use these essays to find out more about you beyond your grades and test scores to determine if you fit their vision of a student who would succeed at their school.
The goal of this workshop is for you to produce a polished essay that not only shows who you are and what contributions you can make to an academic community but also one that avoids potential missteps. We will begin by reflecting on your own experiences, values, and relationships. Then, using the prompts for the Common Application essay, we will work with you in a process that is both collaborative and personal to write and revise your essay, producing a final product that does not just relate a bland narrative but shows that you think about who you are and what you believe in.
