Badin High School inducted 46 students into its National Honor Society chapter Sunday, Oct. 22, during its annual evening ceremony in the school’s Mulcahey Gym.

“Being inducted into National Honor Society is an outstanding accomplishment,” Badin Principal Patrick Keating said. “It’s about more than just doing well in the classroom. It’s about making a positive impact in the school; about being a part of the Badin fabric over and above a student’s academic excellence.”

National Honor Society recognizes students who excel in academics, character, service and leadership. The Oct. 22 event added 20 seniors, 18 juniors and 8 sophomores to Badin’s NHS chapter. It brings the current National Honor Society membership at Badin to 77 students, with 31 current members inducted during the 2022-23 school year.

Each inductee was introduced with a paragraph they had written about their experience at Badin High School. Assistant Principals Mrs. Patty Gibbons and Ms. Sara Ransom were the readers at the event, Principal Mr. Patrick Keating had the keynote remarks, and senior Nate Ostendorf, president of NHS at Badin, was the master of ceremonies.

Seniors inducted included Matt Brugger, Paige Butler, Elijah Dunn, Nick Dunn, Ellie Green, Kelsey Harsh, Gavin Isaacs, Anthony Jackman, Jasmine Juarez-Reyes, Samantha Keil, Mikaela Merrelli, Shelby Mulcare, Abby Rengering, Kaitlyn Retherford, Emma Rhodis, Shea Scarborough, Addi Schultz, Nolan Thomas, Annika Wood and Zach Yordy.

Juniors inducted included Molly Black, Caroline Boyle, Jocelyn Brenot, Ralph Carruthers, Eleanor Colaco, Noah Ellis, Ava Glazer, Andrew Keck, Gracie Luong, Annika Patel, Ella Pfirman, Naomi Samples, Mia Siefert, Maguire Smith, Connor Sung, Jordan VonBargen, Sophia Wagner and Benjamin Welch.

Sophomores inducted included Alexis Brecht, Maren Bultman, Olivia Klefeker, Riley Miller, Max Snellgrove, Kathleen Stratman, Jackson Teed and Vivian Zettler.

Joining Nate Ostendorf as officers in Badin’s National Honor Society chapter are Annie Nguyen, who serves as vice president; Claire Ressler, secretary; and Abbie Krazl, academics and service chair. Mr. Jordan Seitz and Mr. Sean Stewart are Badin’s NHS faculty moderators.
