Alice in Wonderland transitions into a rock ‘n roll musical in the upcoming Badin High School production, “Wonderland: Alice’s Rock & Roll Adventure.”
“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Badin drama director Mrs. Sarah Cline said. “This is a very clever adaptation on the classic children’s book by Lewis Carroll. Lots of good music and unique takes on the characters that populate the story.”
Lewis Carroll wrote the memorable piece of British literature in 1865; Rachel Rockwell updated it as a musical in 2016.
In “Wonderland,” Alice is a 7-and-a-half year old girl searching for her inner musical voice. Along the way, she faces numerous challenges – most significantly from the Jabberwock, who represents our own inner self-doubts.
“This is a story that both children and adults can relate to,” said Cline, as Alice ultimately finds the self-confidence to move forward. “We haven’t gotten to do a musical for a couple of years because of the pandemic, so we’re very happy to bring ‘Wonderland’ to the Badin stage.”
