2023 Badin College Essay Workshop

for Badin students entering junior or senior year
Eight different sessions offered

The challenge for many students on the college search is writing the college application essay, most of which are personal essays. College admission boards use these essays to find out more about you beyond your grades and test scores to determine if you fit their vision of a student who would succeed at their school.

The goal of this two-day workshop is for you to produce a polished essay that not only shows who you are and what contributions you can make to an academic community but also one that avoids potential missteps. We will begin by reflecting on your own experiences, values and relationships. Then, using the prompts for the 2023-2024 Common Application essay, we will work with you in a process that is both collaborative and personal to write and revise your essay, producing a final product that does not just relate a bland narrative but shows that you think about who you are and what you believe in.

Should you sign up? Yes!

Here is what our former students have to say:

“The college essay workshop allows you to get your essay done before a busy year begins, and it will also give you ideas and feedback to formulate the best quality essay you can send out. I went into the workshop with the mindset that I didn't have a special story to tell, but I came out with many ideas. I settled on my favorite topic, and with the help of Mrs. Gazin and Mrs.Thompson, we edited and created a great essay that got me into a lot of schools and allowed me to get scholarship money.”
Teagan Hickey

“My biggest struggle for writing my college essay was figuring out what to write about, as I felt that there has been nothing extreme or exciting in my life to write my college essay about. Luckily, Mrs. Gazin reassured me by informing me that a girl once wrote about how she's a bag of cheetos, or something along those lines, so I knew I could write whatever I wanted to really make it my own. Writing this pivotal essay was a little overwhelming, but I felt relief when Mrs. Thompson encouraged me to think about the important times in my life that I fondly think back on, and for me, that was my big imagination growing up. So that's what I wrote about, "Living in Dreamland." I expanded on how my dreams slowly matured as I grew older and how I now imagine myself being successful in college instead of fighting aliens in my backyard. Attending this workshop not only helped me to finish my college essay in two days but helped me become a better writer.”
Ava Franchini

“For me, the college essay workshop taught me to be personable within my essay and how to make myself stand out amongst the rest of the applicants. My essay was finished before the school year started and I was able to finish all of my college applications in no time. My essay got me accepted into some very selective schools, all thanks to the help of Mrs. Gazin and Mrs. Thompson.”
