Student HandbookDress Code Daily Uniform Certain norms of behavior and appearance must be observed to promote atmosphere of academic development and personal growth for all members of the Badin community. We want our students to dress success. Since no list can be all-inclusive, the school presumes that common sense and mature judgment are the guides by which all Badin students measure their actions. Parents are expected to support the school's policy by ensuring their son or daughter complies with the dress code. Students are to be in formal uniform for all Masses, special events and formal assemblies. Formal uniforms include: Boys - dress pants, dress shirt and tie; Girls - uniform skirt and polo shirt. General Guidelines 1. General appearance should be conservative. 2. Dress shows or traditional, tied, predominantly white, gray, or black gym shoes must be worn. High cut styles are permitted. Shoes must be in good condition. 3. Socks must be worn and must be a solid color: navy, dark green, black, white, or gray. Girls may wear stockings or tights. 4. No sweaters may be worn. Only sweatshirts with a Badin emblem on them that are white, black, gray or green may be worn. These can be purchased through the uniform company or at the Badin Spirit Shop. Sweatshirts may not have any other sayings on them. Hooded sweatshirts may be worn, with the hood drawn. 5. Backpacks may be used to carry school supplies and books to and from school. Backpacks must be plain except for the manufacturer's logo. Backpacks may not be carried into the classrooms. They must be stored in lockers during the day. Administrators have the right to search backpacks. 6. Any uniform item authorized by the school may be worn. Any student wishing to wear the shirt and shorts outfit must purchase those items from Cassons or Educational Outfitters. Girls' Polo Shirts 1. Girls must wear a Badin uniform polo shirt with a uniform skirt or slacks. Polo shirts may be un tucked.
Girls' Skirts 1. The skirt is the uniform skirt purchased through 'Cassons' or Educational Outfitters. Girls' Slacks 1. Uniform dress slacks must be purchased through 'Cassons' or Educational Outfitters.
Boys' Slacks 1. Dress slacks must be worn. No cargo style pants with outside patch pockets may be worn. Pants must be one of the following solid colors: navy blue, dark green, khaki, black, or gray. No painter's pants or jean-styled pants may be worn.
Boys' Shirts 1. Boys may wear a Badin uniform polo shirt with dress pants in the months os August, September, May, and June. During all other months, a uniform polo shirt must be worn with the uniform shorts. Polo shirts may be un tucked.
Miscellaneous - Boys 1. Clean-shaven.
If a student is not dressed according to the dress code, they will be receive three demerits from the homeroom teacher. A student with a note from home or doctor should report to the office before homeroom to obtain an out-of-uniform pass. The school reserved the right to make the final determination of the property of the dress or grooming of the student. Certain or repeated infractions of the dress code could result in five demerits. A GROSS VIOLATION OF THE DRESS CODE MAY RESULT IN THE STUDENT BEING ASKED TO LEAVE SCHOOL AND RETURN IN PROPER ATTIRE. THE TIME MISSED MUST BE MADE UP AFTER SCHOOL THAT DAY. The dress code is conservative to avoid constant revision due to fads in clothing styles; this should be kept in mind when purchasing clothing for school. If in doubt, don't wear it. "Out of Uniform" Days Students will be permitted to wear apparel considered appropriate, reflecting ideals consistent with and promoting the realities of good education. Students may wear jeans, Capri pants, sweat pants, bib overalls, T-shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters, tennis shoes, or boots. Shirts and tops must be long enough to tuck into lower garments and must have high enough necklines to cover all cleavage. Tight fitting tops aren't permitted. Examples of inappropriate apparel include, but are not limited to: halters, midriff tops, spaghetti strap or strapless tops, revealing or mesh tops, etc. Lower garments are to be worn at the waist level and cannot drag the floor. Torn or tattered clothing is not to be worn. Patches, insignias, buttons, jewelry, or other items that include obscene, violent, gang tobacco, drug or alcohol related writings or images aren't acceptable. Hats, head coverings, bandanas, and sunglasses my not be worn inside the building. Appropriate footwear must be worn. No sandals, flip-flops, or backless shoes of any kind may be worn. "Green and White" Days Guidelines are the same as above, but the students must wear a shirt with a permanent Badin imprint. Badin sports jerseys may be worn. If a half shirt or sleeveless shirt is worn, a shirt must be worn underneath. Another shirt or jacket may not be worn over the Badin shirt. Any student who violates the guidelines will receive five demerits and/or could be sent home to change and will make up the time after school. |
