Student Handbook

Suspension and Expulsion
A student may be suspended in-school or out-of-school for violation of the drug/alcoholic policy. A student may also be suspended or expelled for any serious or extreme infraction of the demerit rules or for any incident reflecting discredit on the school. Before the suspension or expulsion of a student, the parents and the student shall be notified and asked to come to the school for an explanation of the reasons for the school's proposed action.

A student who has been expelled or asked to withdraw may apply to the principal or re-admission to Badin after meeting any stipulations made at the time of expulsion or withdrawal. The case will be reviewed at the time of application for re-admission and parents will be notified of the decision.

Carryover
If a student has not accumulated 10 demerits by the end of a quarter, he/she will start the next quarter with a “clean slate”. If the amount of demerits is greater than 10 for the quarter, the number would be cut in half to start the next quarter.

The following is not meant to be an all-inclusive list for giving demerits. In cases not specifically covered in the handbook, the administration will review the case and decide upon the appropriate action. If a student feels demerits have been issued unjustly, an appeal may be made to a dean of students. The dean of students may refer them to the discipline board Any serious or extreme infraction of the rules or incident reflecting discredit on the school may result in suspension or expulsion - for example: fighting off school grounds or being arrested by the police.
