Demerit System

The demerit system at Badin serves a three-fold purpose: the maintaining of discipline, the recording of student conduct, and informing the parents of their child's conduct. The number of demerits issued will be recorded on the student's report card.

All demerits are to be taken home and signed by a parent. The demerits must be returned the next day (within 24 hours) to the teacher or administrator who issued the demerits.

The following chart explains the consequences for receiving demerits. This is for a quarter, but does include carry-over.

Number of Demerits Detention Saturday School Discipline Board Hearing In-School Suspension Out-of-School Suspension
10 X
15 X X
20 X
25 X X X
30 X     X
35 X X
40 X   X   X
45 X X
50 X       X

After 50 demerits, a student will have incurred three suspensions and will be liable for expulsion.
