Financial Aid Information

Dear Parents:

The financial aid program at Badin consists of financial aid grants and the work program. The financial aid program is based on need determined by an analysis of the Student Aid Form of the Private School Aid Service (PSAS). If you feel you have financial need, I encourage you to apply for aid by completing the Student Aid Form. Tuition for 2010-2011 will be $7,500.00 for students from our feeder parishes. Those students who are non-Catholic or are not affiliated with a parish will continue to pay an additional $200.00.

GRANTS
Grants run from $500.00 to approximately $3,700.00 depending on the funds available. Last year, 150 students applied for financial aid and 75% received grants. The total value of financial aid from grants and the work program is over $300,000.00. Parents will be notified if they qualify for a grant and the amount of the grant in May.

WORK PROGRAM
The work program is offered to students who have applied for financial aid. There are six (6) different sessions from which to choose. Students who work over the summer or during the school year are credited with $1,000.00 off their tuition. Students can work from 7 a.m. to 12 noon during the summer or from 2:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. during the school year. The work performed consists of janitorial activities such as cleaning classrooms and cleaning up outside. Applications and details of the work program will be mailed in May to all parents who apply for financial aid. Last year 90 students applied for our 66 work program openings. Notification of acceptance into the work program will be mailed in June. All students who are selected must obtain a work permit prior to starting the work program.

The cost of processing the application is $21.00. It is important that you follow the directions and supply all the information requested. Also, be sure to use Badin’s code number (3896) for each student applying for financial aid. All the information supplied by you in the application is confidential. A new application for financial aid must be submitted each year you apply, even if you have received financial aid in the past.

The deadline for submitting the financial aid forms is March 1, 2010. Applications for financial aid must be postmarked by the March 1st deadline. The available financial aid is allocated based on the applications received. Applications postmarked after the March 1st deadline will no longer be processed. If your application is incomplete, it is unlikely you will receive financial aid.

In summary, financial aid grants and the work program are applied for through the Student Aid Application. If you hope to receive financial aid, you must submit the form by March 1, 2010.
