Catholic Schools Week

Each year students at Catholic schools around the country take time out of their regular schedule to celebrate the gift that is Catholic education. Badin students are given an opportunity to step back and consider those who have made it possible for them to go to a Catholic school. Each year there is a theme around which a variety of activities are planned. We kick off the week with an all-school liturgy, attend the Archdiocesan Catholic Schools Week mass at St. Peter In Chains Cathedral in Cincinnati, and have many events focusing on our school community. Specific information regarding the current Catholic Schools Week activities will be given out / publicized closer to the actual events. This week always takes place during the last week of January. Parents and community members are always invited to be part of our liturgies and this one is no exception! We’d love to have you celebrate with us! Click here for photos of past events.

Vocations Week

During this week, the Badin community turns our attention to vocations, specifically to the persistent and powerful call of the Lord to the priesthood and the consecrated life.
When we step back to see God’s blessings in our lives, we cannot help but be grateful.

The Church leaders of tomorrow — of the third millennium — are among our family, friends and acquaintances. They might be sitting next to us at school or work, or even around our family dinner table. The Church needs healthy, balanced individuals who know how to relate to all people, who are open to the truth of the Gospel, and know how to proclaim the Word in a way that is welcoming and convincing.

Vocations are the fruit of prayer and the result of the Lord’s providential choice. This year, I am encouraging all parishes to include an intercession for vocations in the Prayer of the Faithful at every weekend Mass. By this, we live out our baptismal call, which includes the need to encourage, nurture and sustain vocations.

Guests will be in each of the religion classes throughout the week to showcase a religious order, the way of life, calling and / or role each plays in our faith. In the past we’ve had guests such as: Archdiocesan priests; Dominican brothers, sisters and priests, Fransciscans, members of the Serra Club, Sisters of Notre Dame, and many others. It is our hope that in exposing our students to those who live their lives in Christ, they will see the beauty of this lifestyle.

Although we are taught that many are called to a religious vocation, we also value the vocations to marriage and single life as well. Students are given an opportunity to evaluate their own calling based on each of these Christian Vocations!
