Megan McKnight Mahle '98
Megan McKnight was an all-state
soccer and basketball player at Badin
High who sparked the Rams' female
athletic program to its first state
championship as the point guard on
the 1998 Division II girls' basketball
titlists.
She was a four-year varsity starter
in soccer and helped the Rams to
three consecutive state runner-up
finishes in 1995, ' 96 and ' 97. As
a senior, the team captain was all-league,
all-city and all-state as a
midfielder.
A three-year varsity player in
basketball, she capped her senior
season by being named second team all-Ohio as well as Player of
the Year in the GGCL, in Butler County by the JoumalNews and
in Greater Cincinnati by the Enquirer - as well as a finalist for the
Buddy LaRosa Female High School Athlete of the Year.
Megan went on to a memorable soccer career at the University of
Dayton, where she started every game during her four years there.
She still holds the single season assist record (13) and as a senior
she was the Atlantic 10 Student-Athlete of the Year. She concluded
her outstanding career by leading the Flyers to the NCAA Sweet 16
and earning Division I Honorable Mention All-American honors.
After earning her master's degree as a grad assistant at UD,
Megan turned down several college coaching offers to go into
private business. She and her husband, BJ. Mahle, live in
Louisville.
