Eddie Larkin '88
Eddie Larkin was the "straw that stirred the drink" at point guard for the undefeated 1987-88 Division III boys state basketball champions, Badin's first-ever team championship.
Eddie had played varsity for a 19-4 squad the previous year, but this was his first year as a starter. He was truly a difference-maker at both ends of the floor, deftly dealing the ball on offense and being a ball-hawking demon on defense for the 28-0 Rams.
He averaged 6.4 points and 6.7 assists per game ... which means he created 20 points a game, along with his defensive intensity. For his efforts, he was named all-district and to the Butler County allstar team by the Journal News.
Ed earned his degree in business administration at the University of Notre Dame, where his intramural basketball teams won several titles. He also enjoyed participating in the famed "Bookstore Basketball" tournament, the largest basketball tournament in the world. During his senior year, his team made it to the Final Four from a field of 600 teams.
Today Ed is the general manager of the family business, Rose Chevrolet in Hamilton, and extensively involved in the Greater Hamilton community.
He and his wife, the former Amy Wolpert '88, were married in 1993 and are the parents offour children - Katie (13), Zach (12), Grace (8) and Andrew (7). Ed enjoys coaching Katie in basketball; Zach in football, basketball and baseball; and looks forward to coaching Grace and Andrew in the coming years.
Ed was recently named the Small Business Person of the Year by the Greater Hamilton Chamber of Commerce.
