Joe Giuliano

Joe Giuliano '94

Joe Giuliano quickly made a name for himself in Badin High School baseball that will never be topped. As a freshman in 1991, he was the winning pitcher in both the semifinals and finals as Badin took the Division III state championship.

And while Joe was an excellent allaround athlete in football, basketball and even soccer, it was on the baseball diamond where he stood center-stage.

During his varsity career at Badin, he went 25-8 and struck out 284 batters in 185 innings. The Rams went back to the state semifinals his junior year and were regional runner-up during his senior campaign.

In the meantime, Joe was opening eyes with his summer efforts for the highly-regarded Midland program and in a Team One National Showcase of High School baseball players after his junior year.

After extensive recruiting, Joe signed to pitch in college at the University of Mississippi, but the professional baseball draft intervened, and the Atlanta Braves came calling in the 3,d round. Three days later, Joe signed to pitch for the Gulfport Braves in Atlanta's minor league system.

Joe pitched in the minors for seven seasons, including four years in the Cincinnati Reds organization that included a stint with the Dayton Dragons. He had his own radio talk show in Burlington (Iowa) and has assisted with color commentary in Dayton.

Joe and his wife, Allison, have three daughters and live in Hamilton. Joe coaches young pitchers at a local baseball academy and enjoys coaching the athletes in his young family as well.
