John Brinck '88
When you think about the first team
state championship in Badin High
School annals, John Brinck was front
and center. The power forward helped
lead Badin to the Division III boys'
basketball crown in 1988, a perfect
28-0 season for the Rams.
John is in the Top 20 in all-time
scoring for Badin, with 677 points
for a 12.5 ppg career average. Badin
went 47-4 during his two years as a
starter.
He went on to a record-setting
career at Wittenberg University,
where he was a three-year varsity player and a Holiday Classic MVP. He holds Wittenberg records for three-point shooting
percentage for a game (6-for-7) and for a career, 47 percent.
During John's four years at Wittenberg, the Tigers were 105-14.
John has held various basketball coaching posts over the years,
including at Fenwick, Talawanda, Badin and Lakota East high
schools. He was the varsity head coach at Talawanda for two
seasons in 2000-01 and 2001-02, winning the Mid-Miami League
South Division title both years.
John currently teaches history at Talawanda Middle School, and
is an award-winning teacher there. He and his wife, the former
Michelle Tucker, have four children - Courtney, age 12; Sydney,
11; Lindsey, 10 and Jake, 7. They live in Liberty Township.
