Graduation Requirements
Class of 2008 and beyond:

In order to receive a Badin High School diploma, a student must pass all five sections of the Ohio Graduation Tests. A student must also have twenty units of academic studies plus one unit of religious studies for each year of attendance at Badin High School.

The twenty units of academic studies must include the following:

  • Four units of English
  • Four units of social studies
  • Three units of mathematics
  • Three units of science
  • One unit of visual/performing art
  • One-half unit of health
  • One-half unit of physical education
  • One-half unit of computer technology
  • Three and one-half units of additional elective credits

Completion of these units meets the safe curriculum as outlined by the Ohio admissions counselors provided the elective credits include a minimum of two units of a foreign language. If a student does not have credits required by a particular college or university, they may be required to take addition course work in college. For specific information regarding entrance information, please contact the department of admissions for that college or university.

DIPLOMA WITH HONORS

To obtain a diploma with honors, the student who completes the college preparatory curriculum in high school must meet any eight (8) of the following nine (9) criteria:

  1. Earn four (4) units of English
  2. Earn three (3) units of Mathematics that include Algebra I, Algebra II, and a geometry or complete a three-year sequence of courses that contain equivalent content.
  3. Earn three (3) units of Science that include instructional emphasis on the physical, life, earth and space sciences.
  4. Earn three (3) units of Social Studies.
  5. Earn either three (3) units of one Foreign Language or two (2) units each of two (2) Foreign Languages.
  6. Earn one (1) unit of Fine Arts.
  7. Earn either one (1) unit of Business/Technology and two (2) additional units in (1) through (6) above or earn three (3) additional units in (1) through (6) above.
  8. Maintain an overall high school Grade Point Average of at least 2.5 on a four point scale through the last grading period of the 12th grade.
  9. Obtain a composite score of 27 on the American College Testing (ACT) tests or an equivalent composite score on the scholastic Assessment Tests (SAT).
